Nursery School:Our early learning Curriculum is based on holistic knowledge about children’s development. It is a program for children between the ages of three and five years, staffed by qualified teachers who encourage and supervise them.

We care and dedicate ourselves to children’s linguistic, social, emotional, creative, physical and cognitive development. Consequently, our teachers interact positively with children caring and nurturing them through well planned lessons meant to stimulate, challenge and create learning interest in them.

Consolata Secondary school follows the 8-4-4 system of Education and children are prepared for the K.C.S.E. (Kenya Certificate of secondary Education).

In the secondary, we take care of adolescence preparing them for higher education, vocational training and adulthood. The curriculum contains a well-balanced introduction to a wide range of subjects and is later divided into a group of core subjects that are taken by all students, and another group of subjects from which each student must make a choice. Being Science based i.e. all students do all the three science subjects.

English, Kiswahili, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Geography are all compulsory from Form I to IV. OPTIONAL SUBJECTS:-History (Form I & II) C.R.E. (From I to III), Computer studies, Business Studies (Form I to IV): At the end of Form II, students make the choice of their optional subjects (choosing only one either Computer or Business Studies).

In the secondary school, the intellectual demands are greater than in the primary level as students gear themselves for KCSE. The school therefore takes sufficient care with well laid down routine of unit tests, random tests, common tests and end of term examinations which apart from deepening their knowledge of various subjects, help them to learn the techniques of answering questions.

Our Secondary school started on 9th January 1997, with a total of 29 students. The pioneers sat K.C.S.E in 2000 and achieved an average grade of 6.5 – C and stood 24th position out of 89 schools in Nairobi, and 250/2607 schools at National Level. Along the years the results have been improving as follows: 2001 – 7.17 –C+, 2002 – 7.33- C+, 2003 – 6.8 – C, 2004 – 7.78- C+, 2005 – 8.28 – B – , 2006 – 7.52 –C+, 2008 – 7.67- C+, 2009 – 8.037 B-.

But the amazing thing is that by the end of the year the same children who come to school not knowing much, not even how to hold a crayon , can now write and identify the alphabet sounds, numbers , colours , shapes and much more, which earns them a smiling face from the teacher.

The most memorable day this year was “FUN DAY’. Ooh!! This was a fantastic day. You should have seen the children enjoying themselves on the bouncing castle, bungee jumping, horse riding without fear. Their beaming, beautiful faces were wonderful and made the school look even more beautiful.

Children are gifts from God and its our responsibility to bring them up in the right way and with God’s guidance all will be well.

They can learn a great deal but have limits to understanding. They are physically aggressive, sometimes rough and careless with toys. They enjoy learning to pray and listening to Bible stories.

Mostly they learn by asking …… “ why” and “ how” . They cannot sit still for long.

Here comes first term and they are quite babish and tend to cry a lot. The funniest thing of all is that they still cannot pronounce some words and number well; instead they say in short forms. Number three, they call it flee, for sound r and l, they pronounce them as ‘y;. Colour blue becomes “coya byuu”, brown – “ byon’, red – ‘yed’.

The teacher cannot laugh but encourage the child until they learn the proper pronunciation. As the year goes by they become confident, outgoing, bold and outspoken.

Soon after they become fluent and have lots of stories for the teacher and their friends.

What a joy to see such a progress in such a short time!!!

Well began is half done.

Winston Churchill once said that, “There is no greater calling than serving the people.”

As the Prefects’ Body of Consolata School, we have an initiative of embracing the words of Churchil. The prefects’ body is an important body in any institution and a school for that matter..

Any school strives to seek first the “Kingdom of discipline” so that other things may follow. The student body is paramount to the realization of the above philosophy.

The Prefect Body meets under the guidance of Mrs.Njuguna and Mr. Kinyua. At Consolata School we have prefects who head various sectors.

We have the head boy and the head girl, their respective assistants, two sports’ prefects, two environment prefects and class prefects from every class.

To prepare prefects to face the challenges involved in their line of duty and carry out their duties effectively, the school prepares an induction seminar, whereby various leadership and motivational speakers are invited to facilitate.
